Initial observations indicate that fifth-grade students still struggle to understand science concepts and process skills, which remain focused on the aspect of observation due to the use of learning resources that do not sufficiently support active learning. The purpose of this study is to develop a digital science flipbook that integrates the ethoscience of batik to improve fifth-grade MI/SD students’ understanding of science concepts and their scientific process skills. The flipbook covers science concepts such as changes in the state of matter and heat transfer, which are integrated with the traditional batik-making process unique to Yogyakarta. This study employed the Research and Development method using the ADDIE model, which includes analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research subjects consisted of subject matter experts, media experts, cultural experts, practitioners, and fifth-grade students. The pilot study was conducted at MIS Ma’arif Giriloyo 2 in Yogyakarta. Data were collected through interviews, questionnaires, documentation, and tests, and were then analyzed using descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods. The effectiveness of the product was analyzed using a paired-sample t-test with SPSS 25 and the N-Gain test. The results of the study show that a digital science flipbook based on batik ethoscience was developed as an interactive medium that integrates science content with the batik-making process. The feasibility assessment received a 90% rating from subject matter experts, 92% from media experts, and 94.7% from cultural experts, with an average of 92.2%, which falls into the “highly feasible” category. The practicality test was categorized as “practical,” with scores of 87% from student responses and 89.5% from practitioner feedback. The flipbook medium proved effective in enhancing students’ conceptual understanding and scientific process skills. The average conceptual understanding score increased from 45.82 on the pretest to 70.28 on the posttest, with the results of the paired-sample t-test showing a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) and an N-Gain value of 0.46, which falls into the moderate category. In terms of science process skills, students’ average scores increased from 54.92 to 76.99 with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). The N-Gain analysis showed that the KPS (observing, predicting, classifying, and concluding) fell into the moderate category with a score of 0.51.
