development of ambulance services based on Islamic philanthropy in Bantul
Regency. The research focuses on the role of social capital and trustworthiness in
fundraising, accountability and institutional capacity in sustaining services, and the
operational practices of ambulance services in meeting community needs. The
study employs a qualitative method with an embedded single-case study approach.
Data were collected through 22 in-depth interviews, document analysis, and
observation of the regency-level ambulance network and four service units in
Banguntapan, Jetis, Pleret, and Piyungan.
The findings indicate that KOIN NU's cultural crowdfunding relies on
repeated micro-donations through donation boxes, volunteers, community forums,
and NU's socio-religious networks. Social capital functions as mobilization
infrastructure through networks, solidarity, and reciprocity, while trustworthiness
built through ability, benevolence, and integrity encourages community willingness
to donate. Service sustainability is supported by NU's organizational structure,
SOPs, reporting systems, coordination, volunteers, and diverse funding sources.
However, recording systems, asset management, financial reserves, and human
resource capacity are not yet fully standardized, so sustainability still relies heavily
on the strength of social networks.
In practice, ambulance services are relatively accessible through personal
and social networks, with flexible financing and the ability to transfer services
between units. The study concludes that the sustainability of KOIN NU ambulance
services is conditional: strong in solidarity, trust, and adaptation, but requiring
institutional strengthening through service standardization, data integration, asset
management, recurring financing, human resource development, complaint
mechanisms, and continuous evaluation.</mods:abstract><mods:classification authority="lcc">361.3 Pekerjaan Sosial, Filantropi</mods:classification><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8061">2026-08-19</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:originInfo><mods:publisher>UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA;PASCASARJANA</mods:publisher></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Thesis</mods:genre></mods:mods>
