Esti Wahyu Widowati, M.Si., M.Biotech. abstract: Essential oils are sources of natural secondary metabolites with the potential to be developed as eco-friendly biocide alternatives. This study aimed to identify the secondary metabolite profiles of commercial lemongrass and clove essential oils using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) and to evaluate their antibacterial activity against isolates B.2 and O.1 using the well diffusion method and broth microdilution to determine the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC). GC-MS analysis results showed that commercial lemongrass oil was dominated by (Z)-citral and (E)-citral compounds, whereas commercial clove oil was dominated by phenol, 2-methoxy-3-(2-propenyl). Both essential oils demonstrated antibacterial activity against the two test isolates, indicated by an increase in the inhibition zone diameter corresponding to the increase in essential oil concentration. Meanwhile, the MIC test revealed that clove oil had an MIC value of 50% for isolate B.2 and 25% for isolate O.1, whereas lemongrass oil did not reach an MIC value even at a concentration of 50%. Overall, the two essential oils used in this study possess antibacterial potential and could serve as natural biocide alternatives against bacterial isolates obtained from the stone of Sojiwan Temple. date: 2026-08-19 date_type: published pages: 87 institution: UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA department: FAKULTAS SAINS DAN TEKNOLOGI thesis_type: skripsi thesis_name: other citation: Nabila Alifia Parisya Nisty, NIM.: 22106030004 (2026) POTENSI MINYAK SERAI DAPUR DAN MINYAK CENGKEH KOMERSIAL SEBAGAI AGEN ANTIBAKTERI TERHADAP ISOLAT B.2 DAN O.1.
