As a company\r\nin electricity service, the service to people is a very important aspect in the public\r\nassessment for the company’s achievement which , indirectly, will influence the\r\ncompany’s image. Nowdays, the image of PT. PLN (Persero) Area Yogyakarta\r\ndoes not seem good. It can be seen from the number of complaint from its\r\ncustomers on its bad service given, such as the over-and-over blackouts in\r\nYogyakarta. Therefore, the role of the public relations of this company is needed\r\nto improve the image of the company’s service.\r\nThe objective of this research was to know how the role of the public\r\nrelations of PT. PLN (Persero) Area Yogyakarta in improving the company’s\r\nimage. The kind of this study was a descriptive study, one of the types of the\r\nqualitative method. The data collecting used the primer data which was gained\r\nfrom deep interviews and documentation; and the secunder data which was gained\r\nfrom the documentation of the activities of the company’s public relations and\r\nalso the observation and interviews to stakeholders of PT. PLN (Persero) Area\r\nYogyakarta. The technique of the data analyze was the data reduction,\r\npresentation, and conclution test.\r\nBased on the data achievement in the field, the writer found some data\r\nabout the roles of PT. PLN (Persero) Area Yogyakarta public relations and its\r\nprograms which have been done to improve the company’s image on its\r\ncustomers’ complaints for its services in the electricity service given, which\r\ncurrently develop the company’s bad image on its customers. Unfortunately, the\r\npublic relations effort is not satisfying the customers yet, due to the large number\r\nof their complaint to this company. Therefore, the writer hopes that, based on the\r\nresearch data, PT. PLN (Persero) Area Yogyakarta can improve its service to its\r\ncustomers much better so the complaint of the blackouts can be minimized.\r\nKey words : The role of Public Relations, Improving the company image,\r\nPT.
