This provision has generated debate because it is unrecognized in classical munakahat fiqh, while its implementation across Religious Affairs Offices (KUA) remains inconsistent. This research aims to identify the views of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) figures in Cidolog District, Ciamis Regency regarding the syibhul 'iddah provision, as well as the reasoning underlying their views. This is a field research study that is descriptive-analytical in nature, using a normative-sociological approach. Primary data were obtained through semi-structured interviews with 5 NU figures, both structural and cultural, in Cidolog District, supplemented by secondary data from related documents and literature. Qualitative data analysis was conducted inductively, drawing on the theoretical framework of maṣlaḥah mursalah and Peter L. Berger and Thomas Luckmann's theory of social construction. The findings show that NU figures in Cidolog District generally accept the syibhul 'iddah provision, although they place differing emphases in understanding it, ranging from a means of muhasabah (self-reflection) and moral guidance, an administrative policy not contradicting sharia, a link to the objectives of sharia, to aspects of family guidance and the prevention of harm. The figures do not regard the waiting period as an 'iddah obligation for men equivalent to that of women, but rather as an administrative policy beneficial to individuals, families, and society. From the perspective of social construction, these views are formed through the processes of externalization, objectivation, and internalization, shaped by educational background, NU religious tradition, and social experience.
