This tradition has many unique characteristics that differ from other Javanese Islamic traditions. Mlangi Hamlet itself is a large santri community, so its population still strongly adheres to religious values. Therefore, field research related to the process of food sacralization in the Mlangi community is important. This study uses a qualitative approach with field study methods. This study aims to analyze the process of food sacralization in the Abdul Qadiran tradition and explain how this process can expand the meaning of halal in the Mlangi community. Based on this objective, this study poses the main question: how the process of sacralization of food and the ritual body can enrich the meaning of halal through the continued maintenance of the Abdul Qadiran tradition. Data were obtained from observations, interviews with relevant sources, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted interpretively to obtain research results. The author argues that in a community with a strong santri community, the practice of Abdul Qadiran goes beyond what is called a slametan. Using the theories of Bumberg-Kraus on Ritual Strong Sense and Mary Douglas on the concept of purity and danger, the author argues that halal in this sense has a very broad meaning. Halal is not solely limited to the concept of halal sharia or normative law, but also relates to ritual practices. If one element of the ritual is not fulfilled, it cannot be considered pure and halal. The results of the study indicate that in the Abdul Qadiran tradition, as a living tradition, food serves not only for physical consumption but also undergoes a process of sacralization. This sacralization produces a meaning of halal that transcends formal legal aspects and develops into a halal construction that encompasses spiritual and communal dimensions as a form of social piety. The meaning of halal is formed through patterns of caution (iḥtiyāṭ), good quality (thayyib), and purity. This study offers academic innovation in developing a halal perspective from a normative approach to a spiritual-cultural approach, by positioning food as a producer of the meaning of halal within the Islamic tradition in a santri-based society. date: 2026-08-06 type: Thesis type: NonPeerReviewed format: text language: id identifier: https://digilib.uin-suka.ac.id/id/eprint/78964/1/24200011059_BAB-I_IV-atau-V_DAFTAR-PUSTAKA.pdf format: text language: id identifier: https://digilib.uin-suka.ac.id/id/eprint/78964/2/24200011059_BAB-II_sampai_SEBELUM-BAB-TERAKHIR.pdf identifier: Chulsum Layyinatul Chasanah, NIM.: 24200011059 (2026) LIVING TRADITION: SAKRALISASI MAKANAN DAN TUBUH RITUAL DALAM TRADISI ABDUL QADIRAN DI DUSUN MLANGI.
