This study aimed to isolate chitinaseproducing bacteria from the soil of the Piyungan landfill and to determine the potential of the produced chitinase as an antifungal agent against Fusarium oxysporum. Isolation of chitinolytic bacteria from Piyungan landfill soil was carried out using nutrient agar (NA) medium supplemented with chitin as the substrate. The activity of crude chitinase extract was evaluated under various temperatures of 25, (30, 35, 40, 45, 50, and 60°C) and pH values of (3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8). The antifungal potential of chitinase produced by the bacterial isolates against F. oxysporum was tested in vitro using the solid dilution method. The results showed that two chitinase producing bacterial isolates, coded K33c and K31e, were successfully obtained. The chitinase activities of isolates K33c and K31e, determined using the DNS method, were 0,2632 U/mL and 0,0673 U/mL, respectively. Both isolates exhibited optimum activity at neutral pH and a temperature of 40°C. The antifungal activity of chitinase from isolates K33c and K31e against F. oxysporum showed inhibition percentages of 61,31% dan 44,43%, respectively. %Z Dr. rer. medic.
