This problem arises because there is a history that connects these verses with the Anṣār poets in Medina, while some of the histories and views of other scholars maintain the status of Makkiyah QS. al-Shu'arā' as a whole. This study aims to analyze the coherence of the QS structure. al-Shu'arā', identifies the structural position of verses 224–227, and examines the contribution of structural coherence analysis in reviewing the chronological discourse of the verse.
This research is a literature research with a qualitative-descriptive approach and structural analysis, mainly based on the concept of coherence of Mustansir Mir and Neal Robinson’s macro structure analysis. The analysis was carried out through mapping the macro structure of the surah, reading macro and micro coherence, analysis of narrative and formulaic patterns, and comparison with the history of mustaṡnayāt and the study of modern chronology.
The results of the study show that verses 224–227 have a structural continuity with verses 221–223 through the relationship between the problem of satan, lies, and the character of words. On a broader level, the verse is an organic part of a series of concluding passages since verse 192 that deal with revelation, apostolship, falsehood of revelation, and accusations about the source of the Prophet's words. The connection with the opening of the surah and the polemic horizon regarding syā'ir, kāhin, and majnūn also shows compatibility with the context of the Makkiyah polemic.
Thus, structural coherence analysis provides internal support for the reading that QS. al-Shu’arā’ verses 224–227 are part of the composition of the Makkiyah. The findings are not intended to invalidate the mustaṡnayāt history, but rather to place internal evidence as a complementary consideration in the evaluation of the chronology of revelation.</mods:abstract><mods:classification authority="lcc">297.122 Quran, Al-Qur'an, Alquran</mods:classification><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8061">2026-08-21</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:originInfo><mods:publisher>UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA;FAKULTAS USHULUDIN DAN PEMIKIRAN ISLAM</mods:publisher></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Thesis</mods:genre></mods:mods>
