The background of this research stems from a clear gap between the spirit of QS An-Nur verses 30-31, which explicitly places the moral command to men before women, and the social construction of society that instead places a greater moral burden on women. This gap is manifested in the phenomenon of sexual harassment that continues to occur despite moral demands having been placed one-sidedly on women. This research aims to analyze the concept of gender morality in QS An-Nur verses 30-31 according to Hamka's interpretation in Tafsir Al-Azhar, as well as its relevance to the phenomenon of gender morality inequality occurring in contemporary society. This research is a qualitative study with a descriptive-analytical approach, using Hamka's Tafsir Al-Azhar as the primary data source and relevant literature as secondary data sources. The results show that Hamka positions the moral responsibility of men and women equally at the level of principle, but unevenly in its textual placement. Hamka intends for men and women to equally bear moral responsibility in guarding their gaze and dignity, and firmly rejects any form of oppressive moral burden placed on women in the name of religion.
