bibo:abstract "Language Hierarchy is a system of speech levels (upload-ungguh basa) in Javanese that regulates the selection of various languages, Tafsir al-Ibrīz li Maʿrifat Tafsīr al-Qurʾān al-ʿAzīz by KH. Bisri Musthofa as one of the interpretations of the archipelago that represents Javanese culture in the interpretation of the Qur'an. One form of representation can be seen in the use of linguistic hierarchy in dialogue between children and parents. Departing from the phenomenon that the concept of language hierarchy is often understood narrowly as a form of superiority of those who have a higher position, in fact, in Javanese culture the language hierarchy is a system of language ethics that regulates the reciprocal relationship between speakers and counterparts based on age, position, and communication context. Therefore, this study aims to uncover the form of linguistic hierarchy in the verses of communication between children and parents in Tafsir al-Ibrīz, explain the influence of Javanese culture on this interpretation, and examine the arguments for the use of language hierarchy by KH. Bisri Musthofa.\r\nThis research was conducted with a descriptive-analytical approach, the primary data used was Tafsir al-Ibrīz li Maʿrifat Tafsīr al-Qurʾān al-ʿAzīz by KH. Bisri Musthofa, while secondary data was obtained from relevant books, journals, and research. The analysis was carried out using Joshua A. Fishman's sociolinguistic theory, specifically the concept of language choice which emphasizes that language choice is influenced by speakers, counter-speakers, social relationships, and communication situations (who speaks what language to whom and when). The theory is combined with the concept of uploading the Javanese language to analyze the use of various languages in interpretation.\r\nWith a descriptive-analytical method, it shows that Tafsir al-Ibrīz utilizes various levels of Javanese speech, namely ngoko, ngoko lugu/madya, krama, and krama inggil, in interpreting the verses of communication between children and parents. The choice of speech level is not only influenced by kinship relationships, but also considers age, social position, and communication context as reflected in Javanese culture. This study also found that KH. Bisri Musthofa does not use the language hierarchy solely to affirm differences in social status, but as a means of building communication ethics based on respect, politeness, and balance of relationships between parents and children."^^xsd:string;
