This stigma gradually impacts the decline in basic self-confidence (the foundation of self-confidence) of children with special needs, the primary foundation for building self-confidence. This study aims to analyze the forms of social stigma and their impact on children with special needs, as well as to analyze recognition strategies through a self-training program at the Bina Siwi Orphanage in Bantul, Yogyakarta, as an effort to restore self-confidence in children with special needs. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with field research. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews and direct observation at the Bina Siwi Orphanage. Data analysis utilizes Axel Honneth's Recognition Theory framework, which divides recognition into three types: affection (love), rights (rights), and solidarity (solidarity). The research results show that children with special needs experience three main forms of stigma: stigma from negative words, stigma from social burdens, and stigma from pity and condemnation. These impact their cognitive development and learning abilities, mental health, difficulties in building social relationships, and the differential impact of stigma on male and female children with special needs. Based on these conditions, the Bina Siwi Orphanage implements a recognition strategy through three types of recognition: recognition of compassion through emotional support and religious guidance that restores basic self-confidence in children with special needs; recognition of rights through education and equal treatment that fosters self-esteem in children with special needs; and recognition of solidarity through skills and arts programs that build self-esteem in children with special needs. These three forms of recognition contribute to strengthening the self-confidence of children with special needs through instilling spiritual and religious values, which are also applied to them, and resulting in the transformation of children with special needs into more confident, independent, and self-assured individuals. %K Rekognisi Sosial, Self-Confidence, Anak Berkebutuhan Khusus, Stigma Sosial %D 2026 %I UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA %L digilib79131
