"The globalization of information through social media has expanded fans’\r\naccess to the lives of public figures and contributed to the development of celebrity\r\nworship, a form of attachment to celebrities that varies in intensity from\r\nentertainment-social and intense-personal to borderline-pathological. At higher\r\nlevels of intensity, such attachment may be associated with fanaticism, consumptive\r\nbehavior, imitation, and excessive emotional involvement. This study aims to\r\naddress three main issues: the authenticity of the hadith concerning the prohibition\r\nof excessive praise, its interpretation based on Yusuf al-Qardhawi’s method of\r\nhadith understanding, and its contextualization within the phenomenon of celebrity\r\nworship through parasocial relationship theory.\r\nThis study employs a descriptive qualitative approach using library\r\nresearch. The analysis consists of hadith tracing (takhrij), sanad comparison\r\n(i‘tibār), sanad and matn criticism, followed by the application of six principles of\r\nhadith understanding proposed by Yusuf al-Qardhawi: interpreting hadith in light\r\nof the Qur’an, collecting thematically related hadiths, reconciling apparently\r\ncontradictory narrations, considering the context of the hadith, distinguishing\r\nliteral and figurative meanings, and ensuring the accuracy of lexical meanings.\r\nThe findings show that the hadith is authentic (ṣaḥīḥ) and may serve as\r\nauthoritative evidence. It does not prohibit all forms of praise, but sets limits on\r\npraise that contains iṭrā’, or exaggeration beyond proper bounds. In the context of\r\ncelebrity worship, the hadith functions as a normative boundary preventing\r\nadmiration from developing into excessive glorification, while emotional\r\nattachment and its psychological effects are explained through parasocial\r\nrelationship theory."^^ .
