This study addresses the limited scholarship that examines Sebimbing Sekundang as a process of meaning-making and communication, particularly in Mendingin Village, Ulu Ogan District. It aims to explain how community members understand, transmit, and actualize Sebimbing Sekundang, to analyze these processes through Jurgen Habermas's critical-hermeneutic and communicative-action perspectives, and to examine their relevance to Islamic values. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach and field research. Data were obtained through interviews with customary leaders, religious figures, cultural observers, older and younger generations, and community members, as well as through observation and library research. The data were coded and organized thematically, then interpreted in relation to the community's lifeworld. Habermas's concepts of communicative action, communicative rationality, validity claims, the public sphere, and consensus were used as analytical tools, while source and technique triangulation were used to strengthen the credibility of the findings. The findings show that Sebimbing Sekundang is understood as an orientation of social life that emphasizes togetherness, deliberation, mutual cooperation, brotherhood, social solidarity, and tolerance. These values are transmitted through advice, perbase, family guidance, customary activities, deliberative forums, exemplary conduct, and everyday social practices. From a critical-hermeneutic perspective, its meaning is reproduced within the community's lifeworld through language and shared experience, while the quality of transmission depends on openness in communication. Deliberation approaches communicative action when participants can present reasons and objections without coercion; however, age hierarchy, social position, and reluctance to speak may restrict participation, including that of young people and women. Its relevance to Islam lies in points of convergence with ukhuwah, shura, ta'awun, justice, tolerance, and public welfare, without equating local tradition with normative Islamic teaching. The study concludes that Sebimbing Sekundang can be developed as a local communicative ethic when its preservation is grounded in intergenerational dialogue, participatory deliberation, social responsibility, and openness to evaluation. %K Sebimbing Sekundang, Tradisi Lisan, Suku Ogan, Hermeneutika Kritis, Jurgen Habermas %D 2026 %I UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA %L digilib79150
