importance of mutual assistance, caring, and social responsibility as an effort to
achieve the common good. This value is increasingly important in the digital era,
when social media has significantly changed patterns of societal interaction. While
digital media facilitates collaboration, the dissemination of information, and
humanitarian action, it also gives rise to various problems such as the spread of
hoaxes, disinformation, hate speech, cyberbullying, social polarization, and a
decline in the quality of interactions between communities. This situation
demonstrates the need to strengthen ta’awun values as an ethical foundation for
building social resilience in the digital space, ensuring that technology use remains
oriented toward goodness and humanity.
This study aims to address two research questions: how to understand the
hadith on ta’awun in Sahih al-Bukhari No. 2.442 based on Yusuf al-Qardhawi’s
theory of understanding the hadith, and how to contextualize this hadith in relation
to social resilience in digital media. The study uses a qualitative approach with
library research. The analysis was conducted using the ma’anil hadith approach,
integrating Yusuf al-Qardhawi’s theory of hadith understanding. This includes
understanding hadith based on Qur’anic guidance, compiling similar hadith,
compiling contradictory hadith, understanding hadith based on their background
and purpose, distinguishing between ghayah and wasilah, and ensuring the
meaning of the words in the hadith to achieve a comprehensive and contextual
understanding.
The results of the study indicate that the hadith on ta’awun is authentic and
can be used as evidence in social life. Based on Yusuf al-Qardhawi’s analysis, the
hadith contains universal values such as the obligation to help each other, alleviate
hardship, maintain the honor of others, and strengthen social solidarity. These
values remain relevant in the digital era through strengthening digital literacy,
disseminating accurate information, verifying information before dissemination,
utilizing digital media to raise humanitarian aid, and developing an inclusive,
collaborative, and community-oriented digital space.
This study also found that the implementation of ta’awun in digital media still
faces various challenges. The practice of mutual assistance is often abused through
the spread of false information, manipulation of public empathy, non-transparent
fundraising, hate speech, cyberbullying, disinformation, and social polarization,
which can weaken community resilience. Therefore, the value of ta’awun cannot be
understood simply as a moral recommendation, but needs to be realized through
digital media ethics based on the principles of honesty, tabayun (reconciliation),
responsibility, transparency, and social awareness so that digital media can truly
become a means of strengthening brotherhood and social resilience in modern
society.</mods:abstract><mods:classification authority="lcc">297.125 Hadis</mods:classification><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8061">2026-07-30</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:originInfo><mods:publisher>UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA;FAKULTAS USHULUDIN DAN PEMIKIRAN ISLAM</mods:publisher></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Thesis</mods:genre></mods:mods>
