"The Widya Pustaka Library has a collection of ancient manuscripts that come from the\r\nPaku Alam family's hereditary legacy. Although most of the manuscripts are in good\r\ncondition, some have suffered severe damage that threatens the preservation of their\r\ninformation. Therefore, in order to preserve the information contained therein, digitization\r\nwas carried out. This study aims to examine how the preservation of ancient manuscript\r\ncollections is implemented through digitization methods. The research method used is\r\nqualitative with a descriptive approach, where data is collected through observation,\r\ninterviews, and documentation. The subjects of this study are informants selected using\r\npurposive sampling techniques, consisting of library staff, and digitization partners. The\r\nobjects of this study are the implementation of digitizing ancient manuscripts. The primary\r\ninstrument in this study is the researcher themselves. Supporting instruments used include\r\ninterview equipment, interview guidelines, and documentation guidelines. Data validity\r\nwas tested using credibility checks such as triangulation and member checks,\r\ntransferability tests, dependability tests, and confirmability tests. Data analysis was\r\nconducted through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The\r\nresearch results show that the Widya Pustaka Library carries out the digitization process\r\nthrough three main stages: the pre-digitization stage (inventory, selection, and surveying\r\nthe physical condition of library materials, preparing a photo room, preparing equipment,\r\nevaluating and analyzing metadata, determining digital file formats and selecting object\r\ncapture methods), the digitization stage (equipment calibration, object capture, file\r\nconversion, digital object correction, file compilation files, packaging multimedia in offline\r\nformat), and the post-digitization stage (collecting master files, creating data copies,\r\nverifying digitization results and data checklists, and implementing a system for managing\r\nand accessing digital objects). In its implementation, challenges were encountered,\r\nparticularly in the pre-digitization stage (lack of a dedicated studio, absence of written\r\nguidelines on equipment used, and no standardized naming conventions for metadata files),\r\nthe digitization stage (no written SOPs or technical guidelines, damaged or tightly bound\r\nmanuscripts, inadequate lighting, manual editing processes), the post-digitization stage\r\n(digitization results not yet available online), and other challenges related to funding\r\nconstraints."^^ .
