      "abstract": "Manuscripts are an tangible cultural heritage that needs to be preserved. Given their old age, specialized skills and knowledge are required to preserve manuscripts. This research aims to: (1) Understand the implementation of ancient manuscript preservation by the Jangkah Nusantara Community in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, and (2) Identify the challenges faced by the Jangkah Nusantara Community in implementing ancient manuscript preservation in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. This research is of a qualitative nature. The research was conducted in Yogyakarta. The subjects of this research are the Jangkah Nusantara Community and the object of this research is the implementation of ancient manuscript preservation by the Jangkah Nusantara Community. The data collection techniques in this research utilize semi-structured interviews, passive participatory observation, and documentation. The interview informants were determined using snowball sampling techniques, with research informants including the Chairperson of the Jangkah Nusantara Community, the Management of the Jangkah Nusantara Community, Members of the Jangkah Nusantara Community, and manuscript owners Data validity techniques are carried out using credibility tests, transferability tests, dependability tests, and objectivity tests. The data analysis technique employed was the Miles and Huberman model data analysis, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The implementation and obstacles of preserving ancient manuscripts by the Jangkah Nusantara Community in the Special Region of Yogyakarta can be identified through four phases of preservation, including planning, organizing, executing, and supervising. Thus, the research findings indicate: (1) The implementation of the preservation of ancient manuscripts by the Jangkah Nusantara Community in the Special Region of Yogyakarta is not only in the form of preservation actions. However, it also includes efforts to obtain manuscripts, organize human resources for preservation, implement physical preservation and the contents of manuscripts, and implement activity evaluations. (2) The obstacles faced by the Jangkah Nusantara Community in their efforts to preserve ancient manuscripts in the Special Region of Yogyakarta lie in each stage of preservation undertaken, including the lack of long-term planning, a limited number of community members, limited funding for preservation, and inadequate facilities. The novelty of this research lies in the extensive movement of the Jangkah Nusantara Community, which brings significant changes to the preservation of ancient manuscripts in Yogyakarta. The limitation of this research lies in the perspectives that have not been revealed from other communities or individuals involved and the lack of in-depth understanding of the implementation of preservation directly in the field.",
