"This study examines the process of inculturation between Islamic values and traditional ludruk art in Surabaya in the period 1975 to 2022 AD. Ludruk, as a typical East Javanese folk theater, not only functions as entertainment, but also as a medium for conveying social and cultural messages. Along with the changing times and socio-political dynamics, this art has undergone significant transformation, especially through the inclusion of Islamic elements into the structure, aesthetics, and narrative of its performances. This study aims to explore how Islamic values such as morality, justice, and spirituality are internalized in Ludruk, both through story characters, to visual symbols such as clothing. This study uses the theory of inculturation using a social approach. The research method used is the historical research method including heuristics, verification, interpretation, and historiography. Data collection using interview methods, literature studies, observations and documentation. The findings show that this inculturation does not eliminate the essence of Ludruk as folk art, but rather enriches its character and function in modern society. Islam is not present as a suppressive force, but as a harmonious element that strengthens local identity and becomes a means of contextual cultural preaching. The relationship between Islam and ludruk cannot be simplified as a process of Islamization of art, but rather a dialectic that reflects the reciprocal interaction between culture and religion in the ever-evolving social dynamics. Ludruk does not merely adapt to Islamic values, but also becomes a vessel for Islam to present itself through an art medium that can be accepted and understood by a wider audience. The results of this study are expected to be a scientific contribution to the study of the history of Islamic arts and culture and strategies for preserving traditional arts in the era of globalization."^^ .
