"The purposes of this research are (1) to describe the kind of student\r\nmisconceptions about heat and temperature by using the concept map and (2) to\r\ndescribe the percentage of student misconceptions per sub-chapter of the heat and\r\ntemperature concept. \r\nThis in a descriptive research. The subject of this research is the students\r\nfrom class XI IPA 3 SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta. The instrument are \r\nconcept map instrument and interview text. Data collection techniques by test\r\nusing concept map instruments and clarify misconceptions with structured\r\ninterview . \r\nBased on the analysis two things can be concluded: Firstly, kind of\r\nmisconceptions which ident ified by using concept map are Kelvin temperature\r\nscale is written with the symbol \r\n0\r\nK; the advantage of alcohol as a liquid filler of\r\nthermometer is it have high boiling point; the disadvantage of alcohol as a liquid\r\nfiller is it more danger; the description of latent heat, heat capacit y and specific\r\nheat are mixed; the process of condensat ion, freezing and deposit ion are by\r\nabsorbing heat; the process of evaporating, melt ing and supplimation are by\r\nremoving heat; specific heat is required to change the states of matter per unit \r\nmass; the convection heat transfer process is by molecular collision; the\r\nconduction heat transfer process is by moving of molecules and molecular\r\ncollisions; the medium of heat transfer is radiation of sunlight, and the example o f\r\nheat transfer by convection is camp fire. Secondly, the percentage of students who\r\nhave misconceptions in sub chapter heat and temperature is 1.62%, sub chapter\r\nheat and temperature changes is 3.03%; sub chapter heat and the change states of\r\nmatter is 2.12%; and sub chapter heat transfer is 1.26%. \r\nKeywords: Misconceptions, Heat and Temperature, a Concept Map. \r\n"^^ .
