Nevertheless, rules of zakah, especially on minimal limit (nisab) of Indonesian main food (rice), need to be reinterpreted since one who earns five wasaq in weight is considered as a poor. Therefore, interpretation needs to be performed by valuing the five wasaij as a netto number (decreased by production and living cost until the next harvest time), or by understanding that nisab of zakah of main food is not five wasaij in weight, but five wasaij in value. If this interpretation is hard to be applied, however, it is better to be instructed that everyone earns a living the same as farmer's earnings is obliged to pay earnings zakah, not profession zakah. In line with the interpretation, it is important that the government also conducts political ijtihad in which farmers, whose products have been undervalued in comparison with their contribution to the society and who incapable of escaping from their backwardness, gain more attention.
