abstract: Desa Binaan, also called partner villages, is specially selected
and chosen area in which the people's religious life and welfare
are developed through specially-planned, continious, and
suistainable programs. Its main objective is improving
community's capabelity to empower themselves in developing
their own village (self help), not only of their religious affairs
but also social-ecenomic problems.A number of efforts have been
done, either by geverment, social religious institutions, or
universities with their individual approaches. However, those
different approaches, which I call 'conventional approaches',
are still far from their real implementation in society.
Consequently, another alternative approach should be attempted
to cope with various problems of 'dakwah Islam' (Islamic
preaching) in rural areas. I term this approach 'psycho-qur'anic'.
This article tries to elaborate how those two aproaches relate to
each ather
