The article is an historical tracing to disclose the similarities of the character of classical Islamic education to that of democratic education as known nowadays. In fact, the principles of democracy are fundamentally planted in the tradition of classical Islamic education. Therefore, the notion of educational democratization should positively be responded by Moslem community. The theological base as commonly argued by Moslems to maintain the notion of democratic education actually got its support in historical practice of Islamic education in the classical period.
