The author argues that constructivist learning theory is less comprehensive compared to that of Islamic education. Constructivist learning theory focuses merely on cognitive domain, while Islamic education emphasizes not only cognitive aspect but also attitude, behavior, and skills. Constructivist learning theory has superiority in terms of developing culture of critical and creative thought, and this is not in opposition with learning theory developed by Islamic education and even enriches the latter. Therefore, constructivist learning theory is possible to be adopted and become one of alternative approaches within Islam education.
