The author argues that people have cognitive, affective, or psychomotor potentials that can be developed. The task of education is to maximize these potentials that so far have not been developed yet. However, our education today has a tendency to disregard the development of affective domain (value dimension), and this of course gives negative impacts to students. They are likely to know many things but lack of value system that possibly makes them cannot appreciate of what they knew. The maximum development of human potentials would help individuals to understand themselves. We must remember that self-consciousness is not possible to come into existence without self-understanding. Therefore, conventional process of learning that insists only cognitive domain should be evaluated, because it is not sufficient to bear students with self-understanding and self-consciousness capacities. As an alternative, the author calls for taking into consideration John P. Miller's conception on emotional intelligent. He argues that each student has positive values, smart, creative, innovative, and moral conduct. Process of learning, therefore, should be oriented to foster creative power, personal intelligent, and social intelligent.
