Remembering that education is a demanded activity to be able to follow many changes happened and to answer the challenges in the future, the meaning and components of education also need to be always reviewed, suited with the age development. The research about Mahmud Yunus and Muhammad 'Atiyah al-Abrasyi relating to the meaning and components of education is to know their both thinking about what and how they bring the ideas related them and to review and criticize the things that they feel need to be suited and restored in line with the changes and the happening development. Seen from the education method, infrastructure and media offered by Mahmud Yunus early of 18th and by 19th century, their thinking needs to be improved. But, the one side which is very positive and need getting stressing and maintaining in the implementation of educating process both in this time and in the future is that sincerity and balance between two interests, the world and the hereafter, is absolutely needed in order to get ridho Allah. Because, according to me, the two things are experiencing backward. Thus, we hope that this research can give the significant contribution in the effort to progress the Islamic education especially in Indonesia and generally in the world.} }
