From thefirstperspective, the reference books are reflection of "social knowledge " disposition or "dominant episteme ", whereasfrom the second one, the reference books have contributed to a discourse appearance and constructed a domain ofpublic knowledge. According to this, the reference books have epistemic and authoritiesfunctionsfor an academic actualization process. The reference books that have been studied, both written by the Indonesian orforeign scholars, generally haveyet being characterized by normativereproductive tendencies. The normative tendencies were indicated in textual, analogical, anddeclarative elaboration, while the reproductive tendencies were indicated by their irrelevances andjustification ofmodel. In addition, they were not able to stimulate intellectual discourses, due to their trivial tendencies. Logically, the concept ofIslamic education tends to be stagnant, because there is no afirm endorsementfrom empirical researches, criticalparadigms, andsustainable in developingformulation.
