abstract: The aim ofthe research is to examine the services offered in UINSunan
Kalijagafor disability students, especially related with the implementation of
national act number 4/1994. The research is expected to make recommendationsfor
thepolicy makers at URlSunan Kalijaga in order to achieve a model
ofdisabled-friendly andaccessible university.
The study proves that although the policy makers and the staffs in general
do not know the existence ofthe national act on disability issues, they are
ready to deliver accessible servicesfor students with disabilities.
However, due to no specific regulation at UINSunan Kalijaga related to
accessible services, the disabled students then have to struggle and survive
alone. Ifone meets with a 'sensitive enough' staff, she wilI enjoy the accessible
services. Reversely, one will be very unlucky whenever he isfacilitated by such
an insensitive staffs. The research thus concludes thatfaculties and non-structural
organizations all over the university work together with Quality Assurance
Unit, toformulate SOP relating to accessible servicesfor students with
disabilities.
