Many stakeholders have contributed in developing Islamic banking system; include the Indonesia Board ofUlama (MUI). MUI has given a clear and distinct instruction by issuing the decree (fatwa) in early 2004 that the banking interest is prohibited (haram). This research aims: (1) to know the attitude and acceptability of Moslem people in Indonesia to the decree of MUI; (2) to measure the development of Islamic banking progress in Indonesia after the decree. To answer the above two questions, afield research (survey) has been done. There are three locations which represent a different society (Muhammadiyah, NU and heterogenic society). Besides, the research also analyzes some Islamic banking variables to know the impact ofMUI's decree on Islamic banking development. The variables are: (1) asset; (2) saving (DPK); (3) financing. All variables were divided in two groups, before and after the decree of MUI, then I analyse the result by paired sample t-Test. The results of this research are: first, there are no differences in asset, saving and financing growth of Islamic Banking, before and after the decree. It's mean that MUI's decree has no big impact in developing of Islamic banking in Indonesia. Second, many Moslem do not have account in Islamic banking because they don't understand about Islamic banking operation. So, it need more massive of socialization about Islamic banking to the Moslem people.
