This research is descriptive qualitative. By collecting data through observation, documentation, and through interviews with informants were selected by purposive sampling is trustworthy and understands the conservation strategy in the Java language a rare collection of Library and Archives area of Yogyakarta Special Region. The process of data analysis using the theory of Miles and Huberman, namely (1) data reduction; focusing on themes of research, (2) Presentation of data; explained based on observations, interviews, and documentation, and (3) Withdrawal of conclusion; concluded after the analysis is completed the analysis stage . While testing the validity of the data in this study is done in four ways, namely: credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability. From interviews with informants can be concluded that there are two conservation strategies in the Java language a rare collection of Library and Regional Archives Special Region of Yogyakarta, namely the physical preservation and conservation information. Physical preservation of library materials include maintenance, fumigation, and manufacture of protective box. Then the preservation of information covering over the letters, translation, and conversion. Besides, there is also a collection of rare preservation process Java language, based on work instructions created by the Library and Archives of Yogyakarta Region.
