Abstract

The research that entitled “Library User‟s Ethics (Descriptive Study of Shaykh al-'Almawi‟s Thought in his book of al-Mu'id fi Adab al-Mufid wal-Mustafid)” aims to find out how library user‟s ethics proposed by Shaikh al - ' Almawi. The advantage of this study is to provide insight to the public with the procedure for using the library as means of acquiring knowledge. This study expected that library user can figure out how to utilize library services. Correctely research uses library research with al-Mu'id fi Adab al-Mufid wa al-Mustafid by Shaykh al-'Almawi a primary resource book, and some another literatures as a secondary data source. This study used data collection documentation methods. To process the data, this study used content analysis with a descriptive approach. With this study it can be concluded that the library user‟s ethics coined by Shaykh al-'Almawi in the book of al - Mu'id fi Adab al-Mufid wal-Mustafid are covering eigh categories, namely: 1 ) The acquisition of library materials must be done in a manner of Islam lawful ; 2 ) The use of library materials must be done by give attention to the library rules carefully so it doesn‟t damage the physic of library materials ; 3 ) The use of library materials especially Islamic should performed in purity condition according to the rules of ulama ; 4 ) The storage of library materials should ensure that library materials are avoid from damage ; 5 ) The storage of library material especially Islamic subject should be done by paying attention to the purity of place, the honorful of subject, and the honorful of the author; 6 ) The user should keep the good interact with the librarian and dutiful to the library policies and procedures ; 7 ) Copying and citation of library materials must be done with carefully based on the rules of ulama ; 8 ) The use of manuscripts must be done with carefully based on the rules of ulama . From this research, researcher recommended that the user ethics that contained in the book of al - Mu'id fi Adab al – Mufid wa al – Mustafid that written by Shaykh al - ' Almawi can be developed to fit the condition of now days . This research also must be put equal with the other litterature research that written by the other ulama that also includes the user ethics . In addition , the user ethick must be understood , learned , and practiced by the present and the future generation so they are not cut off from the guidance of the ulama.
