Abstract
Anthracnose disease of chili plant caused by pathogenic fungi C. capsici and affect to economic losess of chili pepper. This research was conducted to study the antagonistic activity of five indigenous bacteria (KSMD3, KSMD9, KSMD10, KSMV12, and KSMV15) isolated from skin frog (F. limnocharis) mucous. The aim of study was find potential biocontrol agent inhibit C. capsici. The antagonistic activity was measured by dual culture and paper disc assay methods. Those strains were screened based on their capability producing chitinase, protease, and lipase using chitin agar (1% chitin v/v), casein agar, and tributyrin agar respectively. KSMD3 and KSMD10 were able to inhibit fungal growth by dual culture test the percentage was 50% and 45% respectively, and by paper disc assay the radial of clear zone was 35mm and 34mm. Abnormality in hypae morphology was observed. All isolates did not produce chitinase enzyme but KSMD3, KSMD9, and KSMD10 gave positive reaction on proteolitic and lipolytic assay. Identification using profile matching showed that KSMD3 and KSMD10 were member of genus Pseudomonas.
