Abstract

House flies have a role in the transmission of the disease in animals and humans. House flies serve as vectors of gastrointestinal disease such as cholera, typhoid, dysentery. One menner to overcome this problem is by using insecticide made from vegetable. The plan can be used as an botaical insecticide is purple basil plant (Ocimum sanctum). The purpose of the research is determine of effect basil leaves oil concerning develop of the house fly (Musca domestica) . Purple basil leaves with distilled water and using steam distillation distillation. In this research, treatment 5 ( 2.5 % , 5 % , 10 % , 20 % and control ). Each treatment be repeated 4 times . Essential oils are produced by distillation mixed with distilled water until it reaches the desired concentration . Each treatment is used 10 house fly larvae early third instar . The method used was a completely randomized design (CRD). Data were analyzed by using the test results of variance (ANOVA) followed by Duncan's multiple test areas . Based on the testing that has been done shows that the concentration of essential oils purple basil leaves 20 % gave the best results . It can be seen from the amount of the highest larval mortality (52%), the lowest ekdisis ability (48%) and the ability eklosi which is also low (20%).
