Abstract
Kajian mengenai organ urogenital Bajing Kelapa Jantan (Callosciurus notatus Boddaert, 1785) masih sangat jarang dilakukan mengingat spesies ini hanya terdapat di kawasan Asia Tenggara meliputi Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapura, dan Thailand. Di Indonesia terutama di daerah perkebunan hewan ini dianggap sebagai hama. Ekspansi lahan perkebunan sangat memengaruhi populasinya sehingga spesies ini sudah masuk ke dalam daftar merah (red list) IUCN (International Union for The Conservation of Nature and Natural Resource), maka dari itu pengkajian mengenai struktur anatomi dan histologi organ urogenital penting dilakukan sebagai salah satu langkah awal konservasi. Ukuran tubuh pada tiap ordo dalam kelas mamalia sangat beragam diikuti beberapa variasi pada organ urogenitalnya, termasuk ordo Rodentia terutama spesies C. notatus, spesies ini memiliki organ urogenital yang struktur anatomi dan histologisnya memiliki banyak keunikan dengan spesies lain dalam ordo yang sama. C. notatus memiliki lipatan mukosa dinding kandung kemih yang tebal, guratan membujur pembuluh vena yang mengelilingi tunika vaginalis testis, sel Leydig di antara tubulus seminiferus jumlahnya sedikit dengan jarak antar tubulus seminiferus renggang, dan terdapatnya bakulum (os penis) yang terbentuk dari tulang sejati pada ujung penis dengan bentuk meruncing. Tulang bakulum C. notatus mengelilingi batang penis, terlihat pada sayatan melintang penis secara histologis.
