Abstract

Until now, television is considered as one of most favorite media by society. Its future which is audio-visual media makes most people more interested than the other medias. Television presents various programs like comedy, news, talk-show, quiz, and movie, etc. Yet, in fact,many industries which are said “creative” often present uneducated and unkind program to be watched. A number of criminalities done by people are one of effects of the television. Shockingly those criminalities are not only done by adults but also done by teenagers, even children included in those. It is because teenagers are susceptible to their environment in their unstable age. KPID DIY obligates to make good and qualified system for society. One of ways is holding socialization of literacy of television mediafor student of senior high school in Yogyakarta city. Therefore, this research aims to describe the activity of literacy of television media which is held by KPID DIY for student in Yogyakarta city. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. Then, this research uses theory of media literacy and persuasive communication in a group. The result of this research shows that KPID DIY usesmanagement function to hold the socialization of literacy of television media. The management function consists of Planning, organizing, actuating and controlling. Therefore, the socialization can work well enough.
