Abstract

The aims of this research are to describe how the role of the school library for learning source in SD Tumbuh 1 Yogyakarta. The method used is qualitative. Data collection techniques use observation, interviews, and documentation. After obtaining the data, then it’s done by data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The result of this research indicates that the role of the school library for learning source in SD Tumbuh 1 Yogyakarta, are: 1) Library as a media that connect the information source to the user indicated by the collection of lesson books, general knowledge books and fiction collection. 2) Library as a non-formal learning place. Library functioned as a relaxed learning. 3) Library as a means of recreation. Library facilities was prepared in order to make the library as a place of fun with games, internet network that can be accessed using the iPad, and the provision of student papers are often used to make crafts. 4) Library as a medium to instill a culture of reading activities visit libraries, literacy, reading garden, wall magazines, and newsletters. 5) Library as a means to establish communication in the implementation of learning activities. Library to coordinate with principals and teachers in the implementation of activities. 6) The librarian as supervisor. The librarian staf promotion in any activity that is done so that users are aware of the importance of libraries in the learning process. Advice can be given as follows: Investment reading culture through reading garden activities centered on the front page of the school that has received greater attention from students and parents, visit the library to make the data written every day in order to see the intensity of visits in the library, library add librarian.
