Abstract

It has been done extraction of bovine DNA (Bos taurus) and porcine DNA (Sus scrofa) used organic extraction method (chloroform) and also measurement of electric resistivity value (ρ) to know the electric characteristic DNA of both species. The aim of this research is to know ohmic/nonohmic materials characteristic and electric resistivity value (ρ) of the DNA extract both of species. The result of extraction are characterized by UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The DNA of both species are measured the electric current value (I) in variation of voltage (V) (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 Volt) used the multi meter The result of purity testing the DNA extract shows that absorbance ratio of λ260/λ280 is 1.5 for bovine DNA and 1.25 for porcine DNA. The result of this research shows that electric current (I) in the DNA both of species are linier with voltage (V) increasing, so it inform that DNA in two of species have the ohmic material characteristic. The calculating of resistivity value is 9,91 ohmmeter for bovine DNA with resistance 10954 ohm and 9,73 ohmmeter for porcine DNA with resistance 10753 ohm. The resistivity value between two species have difference about 0,19 ohmmeter, it indicate that bovine DNA has the resistivity value more than porcine DNA.
