Abstract

One of factors which affected the environmental problems getting more chronic was about the waste problems. Lack of awareness of society about Waste is one of the many triggers encouraging the environmental contamination caused by waste. Dealing with waste which wasn’t appropriate just made more pollution instead and bad impact for human’s health. Related to the waste problems, Section of Hygiene and Environmental at Sukunan Hamlet played an active role in overcoming the waste problems through Independent Organizing Waste. Independent Organizing Waste was one form of Community Development Ways. This research discussed about the communication strategy used by the Clean and Health Surroundings Section in developing the society through community development. In this research also discussed the definition that determine the appropriate Development Communication Strategy. This research was using descriptive qualitative method with Data Validity based on Sources Triangulation. The researcher collected data through interviews , documentation , and libraries with the approach of Development communication strategies Development communication strategy used by the Section of Health and Environment in community development in the Sukunan Hamlet was media communication strategy through society folk media. Folk media as an effective communication strategy and became solution-choice because from the local culture still tended to traditional way, also economic and educational development in was still low. Community development in form of PSM in Sukunan Hamlet was an appropriate way to solve waste problems affected environmental pollution, even Sukunan Hamlet became one of the famous tourism area in waste management.
