Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine user’s service development strategy in Spencer Public Library undertaken from Memoirs of Dewey. This research used literature method that comes from the book Dewey: The Small- Town Library Cat Who Touched The World by Vicki Myron as primary and other related books as a secondary. Method of data collection was by reading the entire text and record the text related to the theme of the research. The data analysis technique used in this study was content analysis. There are 1) material determinaton, 2) descriptive approach, 3) analysis steps, 4) making conclusion. The results of this research concluded that the user’s service development in Spencer Public Library has fifteen services that divided by three types of user services, namely: 1) Primary services there are circulation, reference, drop box, and delivery book service, 2) User services there are internet service, fotocopy service, storytelling service, screening service, specific lesson service, children’s library service, and meeting room 3) New user services there are Dewey special service, job’s bank service, tax forms service, and child care service. Hopefully, this research expected to be a reference for libraries to develop their services. Researcher suggest, to develop library public services, we need to consider times changing, customer needs, and society condition. Then, we can make some agreement with public agencies or other library.
