Abstract

This research is aimed to know (1)Model Problem Based Learning with Experiment method more effective concering about the student’ motivation syudy; (2)Model Problem Based Learning with Experiment method more effective concering about the student’ critical thingking skill; (3) the effectiveness of using Problem Based Learning with Experiment method in physics class. This is a quasi-experiment research with Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The variables in the study included independent variables such as the model of Problem Based Learning with Experiment method and dependent variables that has the students’ motivation study and critical thingking skill. The population are all of 10th grade students of MAN Karanganom Klaten. Taking sample in this research is done by random sampling technique, so XB is chosen as the experimental class and XC is chosen as the controlling class. Instrument used in this research consist of pretest and posttest question, and non-test questions consist of quesionnaire of the students’ motivation study and observation sheet. The technique of analysing data use independent right side T-test (t-test with significant number 5%). The results of this research show that (1) Problem Based Learning with Experiment method more effective than lecture learning concering about the students’ motivation study (t-test of the students’ motivation study average skore after the treatment acquired the output 0.008 <); (2) Problem Based Learning with Experiment method more effective than lecture learning concering about the students’ critical thingking skill (t-test of the students’ critical thingking skill average skore acquired the output 0.008 <); (3) the effectiveness of using Problem Based Learning with Experiment method implied in very good-category with the average skore 3.32 and the effectiveness of using Lecture Learning implied in good-category with the average skore 2.68.
