Abstract

The purpose of this research was to explore and identify the decision making dynamics of marriage for women who get married without their parents’ blessing, the supporting and obstructing factors to women who get married without their parents’ blessing, and the influences who get married without blessing to relationship between woman who get married without blessing with another person especially their parents. The informants of this research were two women in East Java who got married without their parents’ blessing, under the criteria they were 18-21 years old when got married, maximum of five years of marriage, and had an adequate social environment to conduct this research. The type of this research was qualitative with descriptive case study method. The data collection used observation and interview methods. And, the data analysis technique used qualitative data analysis of interactive model. The research showed that the dynamic of decision making on informant 1 for the love of a husband but received opposition from both parents by reason of differences in social and economic status, while the second informant also for love of the husband candidates, but parents forbid the Javanese traditional reasons do not fit as well as a stream of religious differences. Factors that support marriage on informants came from a large family than parents who always encouraged informants to always apologize to the parents, while the factors that impede that informants into trouble when taking care of the wedding so had to go through a long and complicated process to be able to get married. The impact of the marriage makes the family happiness informants felt there was less because of the relationship with parents is still tenuous until today.
