Abstract

Online media and academic activities can’t be separated. Academission now using online media to support the academic activities. Regardless of the time it is correct or not to using it. And no exception with students in Yogyakarta. This research would be explore how existing state university students in Yogyakarta using online media to meet the needs of their academic information. This study will be conducted with the informant in-depth interview of three public universities in Yogyakarta, Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta State University, and UIN Sunan Kalijaga. Once the data have been obtained will be dissected using the theory uses and gratifications theory especially in public needs theory. Indepth research will describe any online media that are used in support of academic information needs. needs such as what they are looking for, and what makes them feel fulfilled their needs in the use of online media, especially in the academic information needs.
