Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine: (1) the difference between the students' critical thinking skills given class CLIS learning model with classes given direct instructional model. (2) critical thinking skills based learning model CLIS application in teaching physics. The method used in this study is a quasi experiment with the technique of sampling random sampling, the population in this research is class VII SMPN 1 Karangkancana 2014/2015 school year, the class VII C was selected as the experimental class VII and class D as the control class. Variables in this study included variables such as learning model CLIS (Children Learning In Science) as well as the dependent variable in the form of students' critical thinking skills. The research instrument used in the form of instruments about pretest and posttest. Data analysis technique used statistical parametric t test that had previously been tested in advance associated level of normality and homogeneity, as well as normalized gain (N-gain). The results show that 1) There are differences between the students' critical thinking skills classes using CLIS and classroom learning models that use Direct models Insteruction the motion of matter (sig. (2-tailed) = 0.003 <α where the value of α = 0.05; so Ha is received). 2) There is an increased effectiveness of the learning model CLIS students' critical thinking abilities in the motion of matter by calculating the effect size of 0.87 is at the high criteria.
