Abstract

Purpose of the research to know the role of school library in supporting teaching and learning activities at MTs Masyithoh Gamping Yogyakarta. The research uses descriptive qualitative method. To get valid data, the writer uses some techniques to collect data, such as interview, obseravtioan, documentation, study library. The writer analyzes all data with three phases that is reduction data, presentation data, pulling a conclusion and verification. The result of research the writer know that the library of MTs Masyithoh Gamping Yogyakarta has roles, suc as: 1) The center of teaching and learning activities to reach the purpose of education like is there in education curriculum. 2) The center of simple observation that enable the students to expand their talent, creativity and imagination. 3) The center of reach the book which has quality rekreatif and to spend spare time. 4) Independent study center for student. Based on observation, the role of library school in MTs Masyithoh Gamping Yogyakarta is not maximal yet in supporting teaching and learning activities. It still need improvement in service and facilities especially the collection of the books. To be maximal the role of library, the library at MTs Masyithoh Gamping Yogyakarta should add the collection that needed the user, prepare the room that fulfill and equip with facilities that needed.
