Abstract

The aims of this research is to identify and describe the extent of children literature in developing social intelligence in SD TUMBUH I Yogyakarta in depth, be reviewed from eight elements of social intelligence by Daniel Goleman as blade analysis. This research using descriptive qualitative with behavioral approach. The method of this research by using interview, observation, an documentation. Data analysis of this research using some steps, they are data collecting, data reduction, data presentation and verification. The result of this research showed that the children literature can give some roles in developing children’s social intelligence elements, including basic empathy, attunement, empathic accuracy, social cognition, self presentation, concern influence, and enthusiastic. It shown by the Iinforman 1,2,3,6 that they can feel the emotion from other people and they concern in the picture that they make from questionnaire which given to them students who often. Students who often read children literature more capable to express their opinion and able to present themselves well when dealing with other people. The second non children literature like a Naruto can influence to bad children attitude. Based on these results the researcher advises when doing a storytelling,the storyteller should simulate a story for children, so that they are able to express and understand non-verbal language in depth and give children book which can to teach a child to behave well because non children literature can affect bad behavior for children.
