Abstract

This research discusses a process of Aceh students adaptation speech code in Yogyakarta. The research used a qualitative descriptive data collection techniques of observation, interviews, and documentation. The researchers discuss the stages and process of adaptation speech code by speech code analyzing aspects and propositions. It elements intercultural communication to involves it a perception, verbal communication and non-verbal communication. The speech code specificity into a proposition that differentiates culture. Speech code propositioncan be seen the process of aceh students adaptation to the host culture in Yogyakarta. Conflicts of speech code can be seen from the accent, intonation, expression, tempo and speed, as well as the augmentation particles and dialects. In the stage adaptation Aceh students speech code it perception and ability of the individual factors in selecting and arranging stimuli. The environment into the host culture underwent benchmark it honeymoon, frustration, readjustment, and resolution. Resolution stage is a finishing phase of Aceh student to enter the realm. The process of Aceh students adaptation speech code it full participation, accommodation, fight or even flight. The manner and process of adaptation of the speech code in the Assimilation. In this research don’t be isolated culturally but wants to maintain relations of other groups. Separation is the option of students Aceh that offers to decide to remain in their own cultures and avoid interaction. Integration is an option offered Aceh students to studying in Yogyakarta. It have an interest to retain its own culture while still holding the interaction with the people in Yogyakarta. While on marginalization Aceh student it have overseas in Yogyakarta will express little interest in maintaining ties with the differentiates culture.
