Abstract

Suweg (Amorphophallus campanulatus Bl.) is one of the species richness of plants that have been known. Suweg can be found in almost all Indonesian region which have the appearance of different environmental conditions. This study aims to determine the level of variation of morphological characters and starch crops suweg (Amarphophallus campanulatus Bl.) in the district Pangkur, Ngawi, East Java and district Pajangan, Bantul, Yogyakarta. This research was conducted with a purposive sampling method in two districts was followed by morphological characterization and starch characterization of tuber suweg. Results of field observations and morphological characterization were analyzed descriptively using software MVSP 3.1 A has been shown by dendogram, whereas the isolated starch was analyzed using SPSS 18 software. The results showed that the analysis of morphological characterization of the two districts generally form a cluster in one area. Three sub-cluster has the highest similarity score of 83.3% and a sub-cluster has the lowest similarity of 50.5%. The levels of amylum, amylose, amylopectin and resistant starch in the tuber of districts Pangkur significantly higher than the levels in tubers of districts Pajangan. As for the water content of tubers suweg in the district Pangkur and Pajangan did not showed any significant difference.
