Abstract

The purpose of this research was to examine the correlation between perception to picture health warning and smoking behavior of students at SMP “X” Yogyakarta. The hypothesis of this research was there would be negative correlation between perception to picture health warning and smoking behavior. The subjects in this research were 102 students at SMP “X” Yogyakarta. This research was use scale of perception to picture health warning and scale of smoking behavior. The technique of data analysis was Spearmen rho, with the help of SPSS 18. From the analysis data, the result has the r values = -0,225 and p = 0,011 (p < 0,05), it’s mean the hypothesis in this research are accepted. There is negative correlation between perception to picture health warning and smoking behavior. The contribution variable of perception to picture health warning and smoking behavior was showed by coefficient of determinant (r2) value is 0,057. The perception to picture health warning contributed effectively 5,7% toward smoking behavior, while the rest of 94,3% are contributed by other factors. [ABSTRAK INDONESIA]Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji hubungan antara persepsi terhadap picture health warning dengan perilaku merokok. Hipotesis dalam penelitian ini yaitu ada hubungan negatif antara persepsi terhadap picture health warning dengan perilaku merokok pada siswa SMP “X” Yogyakarta. Sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 102 siswa di SMP “X” Yogyakarta. Alat pengumpul data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu skala persepsi terhadap picture health warning dan skala perilaku merokok. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu Spearmen rho dengan bantuan program SPSS 18. Hasil statistik menunjukkan nilai r = -0,225 dan p = 0,011 (p < 0,05), artinya ada hubungan negatif antara variabel persepsi terhadap picture health warning dengan variabel perilaku merokok pada siswa SMP “X” Yogyakarta. Dengan demikian maka dinyatakan bahwa hipotesis diterima. Variabel persepsi terhadap picture health warning memiliki kontribusi sebesar 0,057 terhadap perilaku merokok. Hal tersebut menunjukkan variabel persepsi terhadap picture health warning memberikan sumbangan efektif sebesar 5,7% terhadap perilaku merokok dan sisanya 94,3% merupakan sumbangan faktor lain. Kata kunci : perilaku merokok, persepsi, picture health warning.
