Abstract

This research is done based on students’ condition at MTs GUPPI Semin showing that there are students having such low self efficacy. The low self efficacy of the students causes the students’ studying motivation being low as well. The students’ studying motivation is expected being able to grow self-efficacy through guidance counseling. This research has purpose to find out (1) students’ self efficacy in MTs GUPPI Semin Regency Gunungkidul, (2) to improve students’ motivation in studying at MTs GUPPI Semin Regency Gunungkidul, (3) The role of Guidance counseeling teacher in growing self-efficacy to improve students’ studying motivation at MTs GUPPI Semin. The kind of reserach used by the researcher is qualitative research. The subject in this research is students grade VII MTs GUPPI Semin that have both low self-efficacy and studying motivation. This research is to use some methods, such as: observation, documentation, interview and questionnaire. The result of the research shows that both self efficacy and studying motivation condition is absolutely low. After getting the gudance counseling, the students have the progress and improvement in both efficacy and studying motivation. Guidance counseling that is given uses four service fields, they are: a. Private guidance, b. Social guidance, c. Studying guidance, d. Carrerr guidance. The role of Guidance counseling teacher is as follows: a. as an informant, b. as an organizer, c. as a motivator, d. as a director, e. as an initiator, f. as a transmitter, g. as a facilitator, h. as a mediator, i. as an evaluator. The guidance teacher shows kind of positive role in growing self-efficacy to improve the studying motivation of students grade VII at MTs GUPPI Semin by indicator that there is such significant improvement.
