Abstract
The article is an attempt to contras between demonstrative pronoun in Arabic and Indonesian. The author applies both descriptive and contrastive methods in order to discover the similarities and variances of demonstrative pronoun in these languages. In doing so, the author, first of all, elaborates in rather detail the general principles of demonstra tive in Arabic and Indonesian , and finally, contrasted them to Indonesian . The essay presents some exhaustive examples and discusses them consecutively. T he general principles of demonstrative pronoun in Arabic and Indonesian can be applied in teaching the two languages and particularly in translation.
