Abstract
Mahfuz al-Trrmasi is one of the leading figures of sciences of hadis in Indonesia. Among his primary works is Manhaj Zawi al-Nazar that follows al-Suyuti's method in Alfiyah on hadis. In the initial chapter of the book, al-Tmnasi talks of the reHability ofHadis in terms of being rejected or acknowledged. In following al-Syafi'i's Alfiyah, al-Tmnasi added 20 verses in four chapters. 14 verses are in chapter mu'allal; a verse is in chapter Adab Talib al-Hadis; 4 verses are in chapter Asbab al-Hadis; and a verse is in Anwa' ~ah min al-Asma' wa al-Kuna Mazidah 'ala Ibn al-Salah wa Alfiyyah al-'Iraqi. The annexes are original versions by al-Ttrmasi. He based the annexes on Muqaddimah by Ibn Salah and Tadrib al-Rawi by al-Suyuti. Al-Tirmasi added the verses as he found that the number of verses in Alfiyyah is only 980 verses, while alfiyah means thousand.
