Abstract

Each of the Qur'an and science promotes a contradictory concept concerning the origin of man. In a side, the Qur'an explains that God created human species to live on, inhibite, and cultivate earth. In ocher side, the theory of evolution explains chat human species came on earth as the result of evolutionary process of previous living species. Such contradictory views make theologians variously understand the origin of man. Many of them support creationism. They understand the Qur'an literally and they reject validity of the theory of evolution. Many othas try to integrate between the theory of evolution and the Qur'anic view so they understand evolutionary process as a way by which God chooses to create His creatures. This paper focuses on way to reconcile between idea of creationists and that of integrationists concerning the origin of man. However, it is not aimed to justify validity of each. It is aimed to proportionally understand those perspectives within globally Islamic thoughts so there is no truth claim about it anymore. Kata Kunci: evolusi, penciptaan, kreasionis, imegrasionis, dan proporsional.
